Andrew takes pride in protecting the valuable intellectual property of his clients. Andrew has prepared and successfully prosecuted numerous patent applications to granted patents and has counseled clients on patent matters relating to infringement, invalidity, clearance, and freedom-to-operate. In addition, Andrew has experience in trademark matters, intellectual property licensing, and patent portfolio management.
Andrew has assisted clients in relation to a wide variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies. Andrew has experience in numerous automotive technologies, including axles, four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems, propulsion systems, battery technology, turbochargers, vehicle seats, pedal assemblies, windows, and weatherseals. In the medical industry, Andrew has vast experience in surgical instruments, sterilization, hospital beds and stretchers, and surgical robotics. In addition, Andrew has assisted clients in technologies relating to building systems, manufacturing, the outdoor industry, firearms, and fashion.
Before joining Vivacqua Crane, Andrew was an intellectual property attorney at a large Midwest law firm. Andrew began his legal career as an intellectual property intern, where he was trained in the practice of patent law under the close supervision of licensed attorneys while attending law school in the evenings.
Prior to becoming an intellectual property attorney, Andrew worked as an engineer for a Tier 1 automotive supplier in the field of vehicle safety restraints. Andrew also worked for Parker Engineering and Design, LLC as a project engineer where he designed custom engineering design validation and production validation test equipment.
Andrew received his J.D. from Western Michigan University - Cooley Law School in 2014 and his B.S. from Lawrence Technological University in 2009. Andrew is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
In his free time, Andrew enjoys coaching his kids’ sports teams. Andrew is also an avid archer and enjoys restoring classic cars and trucks.
