Jason specializes in the procurement and enforcement of intellectual property. He conducts freedom-to-practice, infringement, and invalidity investigations, and searches and assists in various other intellectual property legal issues within patent law. With a broad range of working experiences in a number of technical arts, Jason is uniquely qualified to handle complex technical and intellectual property matters.
Jason's current practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a wide variety of technical arts including: automotive transmission and engine systems, electromechanical systems, thermal management systems, advanced driver assistance systems, autonomous vehicles, medical devices, and information technology.
Jason began his career at Ford Motor Company in the Advanced Powertrain Engineering department. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2005, Jason worked as an Information Technology professional for five years before pursuing his legal education at Indiana University – Maurer School of Law (J.D. 2013), where he focused on intellectual property legal matters and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the IP Theory journal. During and after law school, Jason worked for a large medical device company where he performed patent searches, wrote patent applications, and provided legal and strategic analysis of the company’s patent portfolio. Jason uses his unique technical experience and background to provide clients outstanding service that provides peace of mind that his work will assist them in developing their businesses.
Jason resides in Ann Arbor and volunteers as an assistant coach and armourer for the multiple National Champion University of Michigan Fencing Team.
